Dorothy Leemhuis named senior vice president and chief actuary for Erie Insurance

Erie Insurance (ERIE) has named Dorothy Leemhuis senior vice president and chief actuary, effective Feb. 5.

Leemhuis joined Erie Insurance in 2010 and has held several actuarial leadership positions, including director of actuarial modeling and data analytics. She became vice president, corporate risk officer in 2022 and currently leads the company’s Enterprise Risk Management department. 

"Dorothy is a thoughtful, effective leader with strong critical thinking skills, and I'm thrilled that she has stepped into this critical role,” said Julie Pelkowski, executive vice president and chief financial officer at Erie Insurance. “Her vast expertise combined with her enterprise risk experience brings a strategic perspective that consistently connects actuarial insight to ERIE's broader organizational goals.”

Leemhuis is a graduate of Case Western Reserve University, where she earned a bachelor's degree in statistics. She is also a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society, a Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter and holds several additional insurance designations from The Institutes.
